In the Summer of ‘04, The Blue Van – from Denmark – spent a few months living in NYC, playing a few gigs a week, at the very least, including weekly residencies at clubs in both Manhattan and Brooklyn.  The first time I saw them was at one of the ones they did at the Delancey, on a night I was going to see someone else.  A friend had called me earlier, saying he’d heard they might be good, so I got there early.  (He never showed up.  His loss.)

I wrote the following on Bomp list the day after I saw them:
Color me impressed.
Think The Who, The Kinks, The Small Faces, maybe some MC 5.  Whatever, ‘cuz it’s all maximum rock’n'roll action.  Great melodies, sonic power, Hammond organ, Wurlitzer electric piano, and a ral show.  Lucky for you, these Danish beat merchants are in town for a couple months.  Their full length is coming out soon on TVT, but in the meantime, check their website…
Also check their MySpace.
