Saturday night

There are a couple things worth your while on Saturday night:

DMZ at Southpaw
That’s right, 70s Boston garage/punk combo DMZ are playing Saturday March 21st at Southpaw in Brooklyn.  That’s 125 5th Avenue.  The lineup will be the same one that played Maxwells last…October, was it?  Anyway, that’s Jeff “Mono Mann” Conolly on lead vocals, JJ Rassler and Peter Greenberg on guitars, Rick Coraccio on bass, and Paul Murphy on drums.
These guys were absolutely amazing last time through.  You need to be at this one.
Laughing Sky / The Grip Weeds / The Beat Rats at the Red Door
Once upon a time, this was the Green Door.  It’s 140 West 24th St.
Laughing Sky includes Dino Sorbello (ex-Mad Violets, Blacklight Chameleons, Lords of the New Surf).  And that means it’s psych time.
The Grip Weeds have been together over 20 years now and have done a number of solid melodic pop records with a psychedelic touch.  This is a very talented group of musicians that can sing with the best of them.
The Beat Rats include ex-members of The Optic Nerve, The Ravens, and The Fad, among others.  Expect to hear wild Beat sounds.
