So, who’s full?

hotdogs 734019 So, whos full?

Hamburgers, ribs, hot dogs, nachos, fried chicken, tacos, pizza, corn dogs, bratwurst, tamales, potato chips, roast beef sandwiches with potato chips in them, cole slaw, macaroni and cheese, funyuns, freetos, cheetos, coca cola, pepsi cola, rc cola, shasta, fresca, black-and-white milkshakes, ice cream, apple pie, twinkies, whipped cream and/or cool whip on those last three, coco helado, chocolate cake, pumpkin pie, and deep fried candy bars wrapped in bacon topped with rainbow sprinkles. Hooray for America!

Face it, you gained a pound or two last weekend. Wanna know the best way to get rid of those pounds without restricting your diet to oranges and sawdust for a week? Go out and dance! Although sawdust can be delicious with cool whip.

Monday

Well, Prof. Z and Capt. Heartlock’s thing at Public Assembly is still in limbo. Instead, how about heading to Double Down Saloon to catch DJ Emma Vikingskull spin a wide variety of rockin’ sounds. Our calendar doesn’t say it’s free, but odds are it is.

Tuesday

Head on down to Bar Matchless for Hot Dog!, a weekly night of 50′s and 60′s R’n'B, Soul, Garage Rock and more. Different DJs every week (except for DJ “Iron Man” Jumpy, who never misses a night) but always 2-for-1 drinks, no cover, and 99% fat-free!

Wednesday

It appears once a month, only to vanish again into an alcohol-fueled haze: Juke Joint Howl at Otto’s Shrunken Head. Featuring DJs Mike Decay and Mike Mortician spinning 1930′s Delta, barrel house and 40′s & 50′s R&B. No cover!

If mystery ain’t your thing, check out the masterful and reliable Mr. Fine Wine, who spins soul music for you every week. Downstairs at Botanica in the City. Free!

Also this and every week, Motor City Bar hosts New York Night Train Wednesdays with special guest DJs spinning garage rock, punk, and who knows what else. No cover, great venue!

Thursday

It’s a bit of a slow week for live music, but here’s an interesting one. Nouvellas kick off an East Coast mini-tour by bringing their high-energy soul sound to Cameo in Brooklyn. Also featuring DC indie rockers Title Tracks, folk musician Charles Burst, and a special guest. Okay, there may be a lot of non-garagepunk on the bill, but maybe this is the show you can bring your friends to since there’s “something for everyone”? The cover is $10 (unconfirmed) which if true suggests that the special guest might be quite special indeed, ’cause normally charging double-digits on a weeknight is a big no-no.

If you’re looking for more of a dance party (or afterparty), give Boogaloo Shampoo at Beauty Bar Brooklyn at try. Soul music at a fine new venue in Brooklyn. Cheap drinks and no cover. Also on the menu: Thursday Thump at Enids. DJs spinning Punk, Glam, Psych, and more. Also no cover, and at a location which is maybe a little easier on the ol’ transportation budget.

I refuse to try to predict the weather this week (since I’ve been wrong every time I have mentioned it so far) but if this week is nearly as nice as this weekend you have no excuse for staying home! Go go go (out)!
