Seattle’s Spits return to NYC this weekend

It may well be colder than you’ve felt since Spring and raining like a bitch, but it isn’t going to stop you from having the time of your life this weekend. Tonight’s lineup of shows has some of the toughest choices for the garage crowd I’ve seen in months, so good luck!

TONIGHT (FRIDAY):

Seattle’s Intelligence and Brooklyn’s Golden Triangle headline a 9/11 memorial show (huh?) at Brooklyn’s Market Hotel, booked by -no surprise- Todd P. $7

Nebraska’s The Brimstone Howl and nu-wavey Dead Phones (AKA Jock) play Bruar Falls plus DJs Lady Bree & Lupe Loop, all for the price of FREE!

Over at Glasslands it’s Josh Styles’s pre-wedding party with a boatload of talent including the Nice Boys, Tough Shits, Baby Shakes, Electric Shadows, Puddin’ Tang, Foster Care, plus William Heartbeat, Carlos Tropicaza and others DJing. Don’t take too long in the bathroom! $7

Not to be outdone, the newly Brooklynite Knitting Factory has legendary Seattle punks the Spits, back in NYC after a long (!) absence, supported by the Heart Punchers (members of Shemps) and somewhat-hardcorists Cerebral Ballzy. $12.

On the DJ front, Dylan “Otto” Bahn and Miss January 1963 do their Barf-o-Rama thing featuring soul, glam, psych & beat 45s all night at Williamsburg’s K&M. Free.

Also happening is Cowboy Mark & Miss Mary‘s night at the Diamond Bar in Greenpoint (which is between the Nassau and Greenpoint Ave stops near the waterfront). Free.

And we assume someone is filling in for Toubin at Home Sweet Home during Styles’s throwdown, but we know not who.

SATURDAY: (more good stuff!)

Early on we’ve got the reappearance of Sister Carrie & the Love Choir, which is less garage punk than country pop, but with members of various garage bands from NYC… this is happening at 5PM at the Mast Bros’ Chocolate Factory on n 3rd in Williamsburg and is FREE.

Over at Southpaw, the Angry Samoans put in a performance for the price of $17.50 (advance) or $20 (at the door)…

Puddin’ Tang is at Lit Lounge

The Spits move over to Cake Shop and are supported by Woven Bones & Liquor Store. $10.

No DJ nights that we’re aware of!

SUNDAY:

The Lost Crusaders play an early show (around 8/9 ?) at Bowery Electric as a tour warmup. The boys are headed to Europe you see. Jealous! $5

Cake Shop‘s got the Intelligence and German Measles for… $10?

Sister Carrie & the Love Choir @ Lakeside Lounge for free.

Siberians play a (we think) free show at Beauty Bar Brooklyn. Not sure on time, we’re assuming early.

Dave the Spazz is back to DJing the front room at Union Pool.

That’s all for me, choose wisely young ones….
