Our writing staff.
I’m the blue one.
Yeah, we’ve all been too lazy to blog this weekend. Or busy chasing that Pac-Mac guy. We’ll get him someday.
Monday
If you got lazy and missed Digital Leather last Friday you get another life chance! Yes, they’re at Maxwell’s with Ty Segall and The Mantles. $8 is the price of procrastination. No wait, $8 is the price of admission. Having to go to New Jersey is the price of procrastination.
By the way, there’s also a Twin Peaks party at Don Pedro. They’ll show the best episodes of the classic TV show/pseudo-religion/brainfuck. This is your chance to see sober people talk like that. Free snacks, free admission, free ghosts!
Tuesday
Hang with your our favorite GaragePunk DJs at Bar Matchless on Tuesday. Once again the Hot Dog! will happen. 2-for-1 drinks and good bar food. Play foosball, chess, or “spot the teenager” (it’s a drinking game). From 8 ’till late, no cover.
Wednesday
Two great shows tonight. The Runaway Suns, The Othermen, Love-Struck and the Honey Dos will appear at Don Pedro in Brooklyn. Not like the Ghost of Christmas Past, but more like four really good rock bands. Over in Manhattan it’s time again for Copycat at Otto’s Shrunken Head. This one should be especially good: The Electric Mess cover The Yardbirds. That’s a match made in heaven right there, but there will be no spirits except for the alcoholic kind.
For a more mellow evening, Botanica hosts a night of soul grooves spun by Mr. Fine Wine. If you’re aiming less for “mellow” and more for “record-breaking hangover”, Motor City Bar hosts the punk/rock/hard stuff night called New York Night Train Wednesdays.
Some days the only way to lose is to just not play the game. So go out and play.
Thursday
Don Pedro comes through once again. This time Lil Daggers from Florida come up here for a garage rock hoedown. They’re joined by locals Two Tears and Brown Ghost (who we tried to recruit — no luck).
For dancing fun check out Boogaloo Shampoo, a night of Soul music at Beauty Bar Brooklyn, and Thursday Thump, with DJs spinning Punk, Glam, Psych rock at Enids. They’ve got drinks too, and I think Enid’s may be haunted.
Thought of the day: Patrick Swayze starred in “Ghost”, which came out in 1990. It’s too late to do your research now, dude. What were you thinking?
