I Dance On Your Body, I Drink All Your Egg Cream

A little bit you, a little bit me, a lot of smoke

Dressed for Success…

What’s Up, my Sleestaks? Chillin’? Rad. Does it feel like summer yet? Don’t let the fools in flip-flops or your desktop calendar fool you into thinking otherwise. Now that mankind and his folly have managed to completely fuck up seasons for all time (amongst other things) all we can do is synchronize our celestial celebrations via our hearts filled with danceable avarice and bad ideas.

Presenting: Your Midweek Options for pretending the world is not about to enter Kali-Yuga:

Wednesday May 19

SPECTRUM is the musical project of Spacemen 3′s Sonic Boom that’s been going strong for more than a decade (and whose phenomenal debut LP goes for quite the pretty penny), lacing ears around the world with Droney Psychedelia and Mind Melding Pop that’s influenced dozens of the neo-psych bands heavily name-dropped today. Experience the sound tonight at Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory (8pm, $12 cover), a sure treat for all the heads and dosers out there…should that show sell out or should you be looking for drinks and entertainment afterwards, there is an afterparty taking place around 11:30 pm at the nearby Satellite Lounge, where the kids behind the Perfect Prescription party (DJs Voidsong, Paul Dillon and Tara Angel) will spin psychedelia, kraut rock and shoegaze into the wee hours. Free!

For a less Acid and more Whiskey style Rock and Roll experience, check out this shindig at Bowery Electric: Sludge punk bands She Wolves and Panzie, the gothic garage sound of The Arkhams and power pop granddads The Bowery Boys! $8 Cover, 8pm doors
***This just in – The Arkhams aren’t playing because their bass player broke his foot doing something silly involving a trampoline…oh the perils…***

As always on a Wednesday night you’ve got you old faithful, your old dependables, your “never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down” DJ happenings, chiefly Mr. Fine Wine and his unparalleled Soul ’45 selections at Botanica’s on East Houston, and Jonathan Toubin’s New York Night Train soul/garage rock/mind wreck party at Ludlow Street’s Motor City – both free, both fun!

Thursday May 20

Stylistic Music, hosted by DJ and swank cat Damon Levine, is back at Huckleberry on Grand St off the Brooklyn Lorimer St. (L) stop…he and special guest Johnny B Burns (leader of New Jersey’s trad ska/soul phenoms Silver Dollar) will be dropping 60′s A-sides of soul, bop-jazz, rocksteady and groovy ass pop music from 9pm till 1am.

Get yer ears grinded with sonic Brillo pads and have tequila poured down the gullet of your soul at Don Pedro on Thursday – Tunnel of Love, who tore off the roof and terrified kittens here at the Hullabaloo anniversary party last winter, make a return to play with danger boys The Ex Humans and a power punk band from France (who sound nothing French), Crusaders of Love. Doubt the cover will be more than 6 bucks, but whatever it is it’ll be well worth it for the sheer spectacle of it all. Expect it to start at the usual Don Pedro’s time, which is the hour between 9pm and nebulous…

Take Cover!

the Tunnel of Love show last November at Pedro was the GaragePunkNYC 1 year anniversary :) Hullabaloo's birthday is in March. But I know your heart's in the right place :)
