I Remember Sweet September

A little bit you, a little bit me, a lot of smoke

kids going back to school m I Remember Sweet September

And the children across the nation utter a collective "Awww CRAP!"

Oh September,  how’d you get here so fast? I miss you and I’m glad to see you. Leather jackets, orange leaves, cool breezes and everything you promise, I await.

Let’s celebrate the first of September THIS WAY:

Wednesday September 1st

By Getting WHIPPED! Scream Queens and originators of “Revenge Punk” The Big Death Scene are playing the  SIRENS AT THE SEAPORT event at a place called Fishmarket (111 South St, NY, NY) down near South Street Seaport.  I wasn’t kidding about the getting whipped part. There will be dominatrixes there to beat your naughty ass. Cover is $20 ($30 for couples $15 with flyer,  Professional Dommes FREE). I mean, if you’re into that sort of thing…

Or,

By DANCING to great DJ’s spinning fantastic tunes:

Charlie Kong presents The REAL REBEL SOUL STOMP at The Skinny (174 Orchard Street), where he’ll be slinging 50′s rockabilly and swing, 60′s soul and R&B, and tons of punk from them days! No cover, and drink specials for the financially challenged are promised…

Mr. Fine Wine and his long running and unstoppable 60′s Soul/R&B party is going on at Botanica’s on Houston Street by Mulberry, where he plays delicious rump shakers on ’45 rpm for the priviledged.

Jonathan Toubin is your engineer and the New York Night Train is your vehicle to Rock and Soul Valhalla at Motor City on Ludlow Street. What new sonic delights await us from his many travels across this land?

Thursday September 2nd

Uh…nothing?

Really?

I’m embarrased.

I must be leaving something out or forgetting something. If so, please let me know here or leave a comment and I’ll be sure to update it. Come on rockers, give me something good on a Thursday night!

Well, here’s something for Thursday: DJ C’mon and Paul Collins spinning at The Delancey for Mr. Collins’s album release party. There’s no cover and, better still, free margaritas from 10 to 11.

I’ll be there, though I realize that’s hardly an incentive.
