The unbridled, smiling savagery that is Born Loose is being let loose on Lit Lounge in the E.VIL. They’re joined by The Mess Around and the over-driven glam-punk stylings of Chron Turbine. I truly hope they let loose the rabies infected mastodons and bring that dungeon to a whimpering fetal position…Show starts at 9, $6 dollars?

Madam Robot and the Lust Brigade (lead by yours truly) performs it’s brand of frenzied, psychedelic punk and soul music (preferred by 9 out of 10 possessed cats) at midnite prompt at Otto’s Shrunken Head, part of the monthly shindig RockEm SockEm. DJ UltraV spins delectible pop into the night…no cover!

Surf’s up, motherfuckers! Twangy, surf garage hep cats The Moto-Gators perform at The Lakeside Lounge at 11pm. No cover to catch this at one of the last of the real joints in that particular neighborhood…

The eight piece soul and funk and hip jazz ensemble The Ex-Camino’s performs at Nublu (62 Avenue C btw. 4th and 5th, NYC) as part of a new party called Let’s Boogaloo, for fans of all that rump shaking exotica from the 60′s, 70′s and today… Ten dollar cover and 9pm doors…

Lady Bree and Sentimentalist Magazine present a happening at Glasslands tonight, with bands of note such as Dutch Treat, Lost Boy and Food Stamps! 9pm doors and a mere 6 dollars for a whole lot of goodness.

Phast Phreddie, The Boogaloo Omnibus himself, makes it perfectly acceptable to wear a velvet smoking jacket and snap your fingers in a bar: presentng Tabu, in which he promises to regale the fine patrons of Williamsburg institution Teddy’s with “Afro Beat, Latin Jazz, Mad Mambo and Primitive Jungle Rhythms”, as go-go-gal extraordinaire Brooklyn Baby Doll struts and shimmies for your pleasure…9pm – 2am, no cover!

When two lovely and talented ladies get together on a Friday night it’s a sure shot to fun-town: Alana Amram and Miss Chip spin records for the unwashed at Enids in Greenpoint from 10pm till closing time…

The one and only Anna Copa Cabana go-go dances on the bar at Motor City for DJ Mike Crash‘s birthday party. Rock! Soul! Tequila Shots! 10pm!

Jonathan Tobin’s weekly “Shakin’ All Over Under Sideways Down” at Home Sweet Home in the LES (or where the LES and Chinatown meet and make out) welcomes none other than Kid Kongo Powers (leader of The Pink Monkey Birds, one of the Bad Seeds, a collaborator of the Cramps, Gun Club, etc)  as special guest DJ. Admission is $3 and FREE BEFORE 11, and secret passwords “Pink Monkey Birds” gets you to the front of the line during the crazy red rope hours…

Saturday January 15th

I can’t think of a stranger way to start Saturday than heading to Brooklyn Bowl to watch internationally famous Ukulele player Roger Greenawalt attempt to perform all 185 of the original Beatles compositions within 24 hours. He’s joined by a host of other demented musicians towards this cause that starts at 6pm and continues on Sunday…wowzers!

Put on your slippery shoes! And a silly hat! And boogaloo! It’s the first Soul Clap Dance Off! If you’re tough enough with your dancing you could win $100 cash or a sweet $75 dollar gift certificate to prime vintage clothing hut Metropolis Vintage! Happening as always at Glasslands with host and DJ emeritus Mr. Toubin

Mods Love Rockers is back this month at the Bushwick Beauty Bar, aiming to heal once and for all the divide between the pointy boot set and the greasers…Phast Phreddie and Dave the Spazz spin all the good stuff from garage and rockabilly to mod, soul and psych! The lovely Pixie 007 is your host and may force feed you sweet baked goods, if you’re good! No cover, 10pm!

Our very own DJ Shimmy will be spinning records on the other side of town at Bar Matchless in Greenpoint. Won’t you visit him and give him respite from that sloppy sloppy Saturday night slush squad? He will happily repay you with delectable taste and sonic goodness.

The self proclaimed number one surf band in NY, The Supertones, perform at Brooklyn Rod and Gun Clug on N.11th and Kent Ave…show is free and starts at 8…do not hang ten on the East River…
