Well, a lot of shit has changed within a week of me doing my last write up on here. First and foremost, Jonathan Toubin is finally out of the ICU after a little over a month! WOOOOOOOO! Go Jonny boy! Secondly, apparently I was wrong about January being completely crappy. There’s actually a ton of shit going on! I’m guessing because a lot of people have tomorrow off for MLK day.
Sunday January 15th
There’s a show at Mercury Lounge tonight with Party Lights, Jay Vons, Naked Heroes, and Living Kills. I’m really not familiar with any of these bands. I’ve seen Party Lights name being thrown around at some point. If my laptop wasn’t such a piece of shit I would consider providing links to some sort of sound sample, but that’s not happenin’. But anyways, the show starts at 7PM and probably costs like $5 or $6?
Yet another show I don’t really know much about. There’s a shitload of bands playing so there’s bound to be at least one good one mixed in there. The Multitudes, Noxious Foxes, Meekco Cheech, El Drugstore, and Lost Coves at Don Pedros at 8PM costs $7.
Today is Continental’s yearly festival blowout with a shitload of bands. I have no idea who is playing besides CJ Ramone. Apparently he is going on around 10PM. I know this doesn’t sound appealing and you’re all saying, “blah blah whatever its probably going to be like watching a Ramones cover band” which yes, you are right. However, a Ramones cover band is still fucking awesome. I went and saw this a year or two ago and it fucking ruled! Had a great time. From what I remember they steered clear of playing any cheese ball shit. The crowd went fuckin’ bonkers! $5 before 9:30 and $10 after.
Now onto the DJ stuff. There’s a huge ass party at Le Poisson Rouge in homage to David Bowie and Elvis’ birthday. There is a shitload of stuff going on with this so I’m just going to post the link to the Facebook event page to avoid any chance of just making a long confusing mess on here. Burlesque, fashion show, bands, DJs, and so on…Without a doubt this is going to be jam packed full of fuckin’ weirdos. Starts at 10PM and costs $15 if you RSVP and $20 if ya don’t!

Ah! Finally something familiar! Got the usual Sunday routine. Andy Maltz & Dave the Spazz at Union Pool spinning 50s & 60s gems from 10PM till 2AM while Johnny from Closed Casket/Nervous Assistant DJs punk and metal at Macri Park down the street from 10PM till 4AM. Both are free and both are sexy!
Monday January 16th
Apparently I DON’T LIKE MONDAYS! has migrated over the bridge into Brooklyn at Public Assembly with DJ William Berman, Alix Brown, and Simon O’Connor spinnin’ the goods from 10PM till 3AM!
Now back to the Union Avenue show down! There’s country night at Union Pool with Cowboy Mark & Tony from 10PM till 2AM and yours truly down the street at Macri Park spinning garage, soul, r&b, and other crap from1 0PM till 4AM. Again, both are free!
Tuesday January 17th
Didn’t see much going on for Tuesday besides Hot Doggin’ night at Bar Matchless. Buy 1 get 1 free drinks and kick ass DJs all night long from 10PM till 3AM! FREEEEEE!
