Talk about working for the weekend.
It’s a slow one this week, but there are a couple of possibilities…
TONIGHT (WEDNESDAY):
Our top event tonight has to be Copycat’s tribute to Johnny Rotten aka “Rottencat II” featuring the Dexedrines & Other Crimes playing covers of the rotten one’s punk and new wave careers live. Perhaps most amazing of all, someone who worked with John Lydon, Allan Dias (of PiL) spins his own tribute as guest DJ. Maybe he ain’t so bad after all! 9PM start at Otto’s Shrunken Head, FREE
Otherwise we’ve got a lot of the same old good DJing stuff tonight–
Matt Hollywood at 138 Ludlow; Mr Fine Wine spinning r&b at Botanica, and presumably someone (?!) filling in for Jonathan Toubin at Motor City.
THURSDAY:

more pics of Manitoba at Asbury Lanes 2 weeks ago here.
At Bowery Electric, Manitoba, a new groop featuring, you guessed it, Handsome Dick Manitoba, makes its NYC debut. The band features Ross the Boss, Thunderbolt Patterson and Dean Rispler, making it sort of a 5/7ths Dictators reunion or something. Also playing are Atlanta’s modern power pop rockers the Biters and DBCR. Note: apparently SOLD OUT, maybe there will be ticket action at the door. Doors at 7:30 (supposedly) and over by 1AM.
Otherwise, thinnest Thursday in a while– Move Your Mule at Otto’s Shrunken Head skanks on with ska and the like courtesy of selectors Agent Jay, Bunny Punch and more. FREE
