Ahoy, Landlubbers! It’s time to kick off your  shoes and fill up your gullet and put on your clown nose and go make lots of trouble for squares, cause it’s the weekend, yeah!

Here’s how to do it:

Friday June 8th

The trip down whiskey and blood stained memory lane continues with the Max’s Kansas City Alumni Reunion at Bowery Electric (SO very annoyed to have missed the legendary Jayne County last night!!!)…tonight it’s Billy Rath’s Street Pirates, Sic Fucks, Avant Duel, The Shirts and The Brats…starting early at 6 and going until midnight when the place turns into…Not Max’s!

Jonathan Toubin’s weekly Shakin’ All Over Under Sideways Down is settling back nicely into it’s groove at Home Sweet Home, this week the man is joined by one of New Orlean’s prime mod/garage DJ’s Matty (if you’re ever looking for action in the Big Easy check out his party Alligator Chomp-Chomp!) on the decks from the hours of 11pm till close…of course Metropolis Vintage Happy Hour is a hoppin’ from 8 till 11 with DJ Phil, two for one drink specials, a partridge in a pair tree, and YOU…

Update: How could we miss this one? Brooklyn’s own garage thrash group,The Psyched , are celebrating their record release tonight at Public Assembly in heart of Condoland Williamsburg. They’re joined by Black Gladiator honchos and chronic Termbroz The Thing With Two Heads on the turntables, the Jigglers, Organs and Moonmen on the Moon, Man (feat. Cake Shop’s Andy Bodor)… All this for a measly peasly $10. 9PM doors.

CrystalBlu spins happy hour at Beauty Bar on 14th Street and 3rd…her party To Sir With Love is a monthly thing now, every second Friday! She’s got loads of poppy psych, garage, girl groups and soul a go-go for your early evening manicure from 7pm till 11…no cover…

La La Linda’s weekly romper at The Ding Dong Lounge pays homage to The Forbidden Planet, so you can expect her to play even MORE out there psych and garage whackness, especially with her partner in crime Linear Progression acting as visual jockey and putting on a light show to match your head – partying from 10pm till the sweet end, no cover…

Saturday June 9th

Tony Lo-Fi presents a Garage-A-Go-Go evening at Grand Victory! A killer bill featuring (in order) The Electric Mess (hot off new album Falling Off the Face of the Earth), Montreal MONSTERS of psych garage Le Chelsea Beat, girl gang in boots Party Lights, the firey swagger of Cudzoo and the Faggettes and Big Riff! This show is gonna run on time so get there at on time4 if you don’t want to miss the action! Tony and Charles Gaskins will be spinning greasy garage and frat rock 45′s between bands! 7:30 doors, first band AT 8pm, sharp!

After the bands from around midnight till the morning star rises, stick around for Soul A Go Go, with Jumpy and Big Sir spinning hyped up 60′s soul and R&B 45′s for stylin’ and profilin’!

Just in time for Father’s Day…one of my favorite music videos of the year so far:

And Le Chelsea Beat!

Not much farther away at underground party playground 285 Kent, our town get’s paid a visit by Sub Pop backed mad man King Tuff! This ought to be a real one wild one, as the shindig is rounded out by our own magic groups Habibi and The K-Holes! 8pm doors, $10 cover…

***Addendum – Just heard word of a show featuring Wild Yaks & Daytona at a new to me place in Bushwick called Mary Meyers Store (56 Bogart Street) .. more info as we get it ***

Somehow the aforementioned Tony LoFi found the cloning device and has got another Cavestomp throwdown happening across the river at East Village batcave The Parkside Lounge…Tonight’s mess is headlined by the mighty Brimstones, who have threatened to ritually sacrifice their poor beaten to shit Farfisa on stage…supporting acts for fright night are The Enthusiasts, The Last Conspirators and Holmes…may the walls survive…8pm show, $6 cover, cheap ass beer for the entire family…

Meanwhile at Bowery Electric is the final evening of the tribute to Max’s Kansas City, with The Nihilistics, The Waldos, The Planets, Jahn Xavier and Stumblebunny…early show starting at 6pm…not sure of the cover though. Let’s say $8. Yeah, that sounds right!

If you’re gonna be in the city, take the after party to Idle Hands for DJ C’Mon’s Saturday Night Takeover, for guaranteed rock and roll sounds for the night hounds in a whiskey and burger flavored place! 10pm till close, no cover…

And SCENE! That’s what I got for now…check back here SUNDAY for Drew’s post…Sunday on it’s own is gonna be another killer on a busy start of the week, so hang tight!
