Oh holy hell this write up is going to take forever this week. There’s a good amount of shows tonight as well as Tuesday. Of course as usual Monday doesn’t have jack squat going on, but here we go. Prepare yourself for some pretty good options this week! Summer is here and its hit the ground running!
Sunday June 24th
Sunday has kept its reputation with proving that it can hold its own against Friday and Saturday with its solid options for shows lately. Tonight over at Fontana’s are three touring bands from Austin; Flesh Lights, Bobby Jealousy, and Shivery Shakes. Plus two locals; Hectors’s Pets and Habibi. A pretty heavy duty bill for a Sunday night. The show starts at 8PM and I was unable to spot a price anywhere, but I’m assuming with three touring bands that its going to be somewhere between $7-$10. Somewhere in that range.

Now onto Show #2 for Sunday! This one consists of an old co-DJ of mine from the Brooklyn Fireproof(Animal Night/Frisky Whiskee) days, Nick Wallin, playing in Bad Vision along with Norman, These Days, Hoarders, and The Guts will be playing at Party Expo! Starts at 8PM and is $6 to get in! Another heavy duty line-up for a Sunday! Time to call the big boss man and tell’em you’ve been shitting yourself all day and can’t make it tomorrow!

Ok, that’s it for the shows. Now onto DJ stuff! Andy Maltz from Underthings/Little Killers and Dave the Spazz from WFMU are spinning 50s & 60s stuff at Union Pool from 10PM till 2AM.
Monday June 25th
No surprises with Monday this week. There is Country Night at Union Pool with Cowboy Mark & Tony spinning from 9PM till 2AM, and for those of you who aren’t sick of hearing me DJ after spinning all weekend I’ll be right back at Macri Park all over again(DEJA VU!!) throwing down garage, punk, soul, and other junk from 10PM till 4AM! Sorry no BBQ this time. However, there are plans for another one on July 21st!

I had no way of knowing this in time to post anything about it because I didn’t find out until I got to the bar last night. So when I got to Macri Park last night I received a text from the manager saying they are getting rid of DJs on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Wednesdays. I guess its all up to Cowboy Mark & Tony to hold down the fort on Mondays now. It was a good three years! RIP Macri Mondays 2009-20012…

Tuesday June 26th
The monthly Take My Tuesdays Please at the Friars Club is this week where there are always awesome DJs spinning soul , rocksteady, and garage. Its a trek to midtown, but totally worth it! A good excuse to bust out your one pair of pants without dick holes in them and your fancy button up that you usually just use for a jizz rag or the occasional job interview. Starts at 8PM and goes until about midnight.

So Keenan decided to pop into Macri Park last night and informed me that he won’t be doing anything at the Friar’s Club until August. Also, please try to resist smoking weed inside of the Friars Club next time. Apparently that is frowned upon by the friars.

There is all sorts of shit going on at Bowery Electric this Tuesday with M. Henry Jones benefit for Fly’s Eye 3-D & SnakeMonkey, the East Village’s own 3-D Optical Art Laboratory! 3-D with no glasses! Performances by Lauren Agnelli, Nervus Rex, A-Bones, Fleshtones, and DJs Todd-O-Phonic and Dany Johnson. There will also be short rock films consisting of Soul City, Brand New Cadillac, and Go-Go Girl. Sounds like a whole lotta awesome! The doors open at 7PM and awesomeness starts around 8PM and will cost ya ten buckaroos!

Getting close to the end of all this damn writing! The tour return of Numerators is this Tuesday at Death By Audio with Grooms, Noons, and Neighbors. Its all bands I’m not very familiar with, but I read their little descriptions and it sounded promising. I saw Cramps, Butthole Surfers, Natural Child, and Die Antwoord being name dropped so I figured it could be promising. Especially with the Die Antwoord part! Starts at 9PM and costs $7.

Now last, but not least is good ol’ Hotdog Night at Bar Matchless with buy 1 get 1 free drinks and killer DJs all night long from 10PM till 3AM! Best place to get wasted for cheap on a Tuesday night!
