It's What's For Dinner

Happy Wednesday and Happy first day of August! How did we get here? So soon! Better buy a new trapper keeper and some number 2 pencils while the back to school savings are going, right? AmIRightLadieS?

Not a whole lot of action going on this mid week, so I’ll be brief like Fruit of the Looms:

Wednesday August 1st

Three DJ par-tays of note:

  • Watch This Sound with Grace of Spades and friends, spinning classic reggae tunes all night from 9pm at Brooklyn Stable, home of fantastically cheap drinks and dollar wings (new economy drinking)…
  • Matt Fiveash is over at Williamsburg drink hole Daddy’s, spinning 50′s and 60′s R&B and rock and roll records on ’45…
  • My man DJ InBetween fills in for a vacationing Mr. Fine Wine tonight at Botanica’s…I expect he’ll also be rocking the soul ’45′s but the guys collection goes deep so who knows?

Thursday August 2nd

Drug Front Records recording artists – those dirty girls Cudzoo & The Faggettes and The Naked Heroes - are at Mercury Lounge, playing back to back from 9:30pm…$10 cover, if I’m not mistaken

Mr. Robinson and Bama Lama Mike are at Heather’s tonight from 8pm, spinning sweet vintage soul music on wax from 8pm till about midnight…no cover…

Ursula 1000 and his newish party CONTACT happens at Williamsburg’s Tender Trap (245 South 1st St)…he’s joined this month by Brother Daniel and Shane Boogie for a night of mod, soul, space disco and punk spun on ’45′s from 1opm till close! No cover

As always Move Your Mule goes down at Otto’s Shrunken Head - rocksteady, ska and dub music all night by Agent Jay and his compatriots…10pm till late, no cover.

And das eees all…if anything else we should know about is going down (and NO, not your poetry reading and NO not your math rock band), fill us in, alright? ALRIGHT.
