Insert Change Pun Here

OK! If you're reading this, you're probably tired of wall-to-wall coverage of goings on in DC. You're also probably ready to PARTY, and boy, have we got the week for you!

Tonight @ Matchless in Greenpoint, the Hot Dog! DJs promise sets of songs themed to say goodbye to Bush and hello to Hussein Obama (expect things to be heavy on SOUL). 2 for 1 drinks all night plus the kitchen is now open (til 2!) which means there's burgers, wings, fries, even a veg option or two. no cover.

Also tonight is a ToddP party in Brooklyn featuring the Pissed Jeans and Vivian Girls.

Tomorrow night Josh Lee of the Headless Hookers is DJing at a hopefully-to-be-regular gig at Lolita Bar at 266 Broome St in Manhattan-- expect blues & other dark colored music. free.

Mr Fine Wine is at Botanica as always and Jonathan Toubin is at Motor City bar.

THURSDAY, Boogaloo Shampoo rolls on with more soul at Beauty Bar and we assume there are DJs at NYNT's other Thursday gig at Enid's (no info). Also there's a live show at Don Pedro featuring the Siberians (who played a killer set at Union Pool last Friday) and Thee Yetis, who haven't played out in quite a while!

There are literally 10 events on the nyc show calendar for Friday alone to talk about, not to mention more goodness this Saturday so we'll revisit those later on in the week. Go get hopeful wasted!

Hump Day / Yom Kippur Eve Celebration!

Thee Yetis appear at Otto's at 9PM tonight.

Tonight, being Hump Day AND Yom Kippur Eve (fasting means no alcohol, so get it in tonight!), is a particularly good time to check out New York's midweek action... check out our garage punk shows calendar including these events:

First up is the happy hour DJing of Miss Christina Ginger (Anabolics) and Frank (of Brooklyn's Above) at The Creek in Long Island City. Starting at 5 and running 'til at least 8 (possibly later), you can grab some Mexican food and hang at this weird venue near the B61 bus, the G train, or the 7 train (if you're coming from Midtown, in which case I suggest you start with some tequila).

Next we've got Thee Yetis, a formerly DC-based and now NYC-resident garage/punk band playing what we believe to be a free set at Otto's around 9PM. These youngins' tunes vary between Pebbles-ish garage to 70's punk pop and now have demo CDs on offer (cheap).

Finally we've got ever-present DJ Jonathan Toubin at Motor City Bar at 10PM, where there will be the usual crowd downing 'em rapidly and listening to the punkier side of his collection.
